National Ambient Air Quality Standards or NAAQS

Under the US Clean Air Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must establish National Ambient Air Quality Standards to identify pollutants that can harm human health and the environment. The NAAQS classifies air pollutants and sets criteria for tolerable levels present in the air.
