Kyoto Protocol

The Kyoto Protocol was enacted in 1997 as a worldwide effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to control global warming. Under the Kyoto Protocol, 186 industrialized nations committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2 percent of their 1990 levels before the year 2008-2012.
