Bio-plastics

Starch-based plastics made from soy, corn or potatoes. These plastics can be composted–breaking down 60 percent or more within 180 days. To break down, bio based plastics need water, heat and air. This poses a problem in landfills since aeration is usually not enough to break down bio-plastics. They are also expensive and are not recyclable.
